Tried to use tubed silver clay

I drew many sketches,
but they're too complicate to draw on the dried cork clay... :(

Finally I picked this, but teacher said it's still too complicate for beginners...and yes I've proved it, it's hard to do especially when it came to turning points.
Conclusion: Tubed clay isn't really a nice tool, it depends on one's design, and it's expensive (HK$310 for 9g), but I'd like to practice another time, because I want to control this tool better, and I like this pattern.

It's pretty hard to manage,
it doesn't suit for the pattern I've drew,
but well, I didn't know the texture before.
Tubed clay like paste, very hard to correct once I've went wrong!

Only 10 minutes was needed for firing this time, because lines are too thin. When I picked it from the oven, I used the pliers wrongly, the egg shape was distorted when it's still ultra hot :-S
Outcome: lines are lose, turning points aren't sharp, I even broke part of it...||| After brushing away ash on it, it's not shiny, and not able to polish, it's very fragile.

Hahaa...the moon has been well polished, now it's shiny, teacher said it's passed √ I think I can make it more shiny...but no...too much polish causes many scratches on it.
And it will become smaller after too much polish works.

† It would be cool to join a traditional silversmith course, or jewelry design course. I always want to make something useful, but since I'm not a technical person, so always turns out nothing finally :-P

2nd lesson of silver clay

The silver clay has been blow dried, then I started to polish, it took me about 2 hours to do it. And there's a little ring added at the point of the moon, it doesn't have to be polished because we don't want it to be as shiny as the body.

It's still in clay status, though you can see it has shiny surface now...it will be firing under 720c for 15 minutes or more...I'm not sure, let's see in the next lesson.

Tool: sand paper 1500, agate burnisher, brush

During polishing, it's important that to keep going in the same direction, or it will get unwanted scratches.

I'm already thinking about the next piece of work, it will be a ring, need to do some sketching soon.

Silver Clay Class

I had lots of styles in mind, but it's the 1st lesson, only simple shape can be made.
This moon shaped pendant probably would be a failed piece XD Wrong size, and not smooth. I wish the next one will be better!

The upper pic was moons made by blue stick, for practice, the bottom one is made by silver clay, still have to be polished :(
